João was trained under Professor Ian Coelho, a respected coach who has worked with several UFC athletes, including former UFC Flyweight Champion Deiveson Figueiredo. Growing up in such a strong martial arts environment shaped João into a dedicated practitioner from an early age.

He began his Jiu-Jitsu journey at the age of 12 and quickly immersed himself in competition. Over the years, he has built an impressive competitive record, earning more than 80 medals in regional and national tournaments throughout Brazil.

On the international stage, João made his mark by becoming the AJP Thailand No-Gi Champion and winning the AFG Open in both his weight division and the absolute category.

With over 12 years of experience as a competitor and practitioner, João now brings his passion, technical knowledge, and competitive spirit to the Monarchy MMA team. His goal is to help students of all levels develop strong fundamentals, improve their games, and experience the same passion for Jiu-Jitsu that has driven his own journey.
