Finlay believes that a large part of self defence is about mindset. When dealing with self defence, it is different from a ring fight in the way that our objective doesn’t have to be to defeat the other person. In a personal defence situation, our aim is to escape. This involves awareness, verbal de-escalation, physical defence, controlled aggression, and disengaging. It is important to train all of these aspects. Finlay joins our team of instructors and brings with him more than 20 years of martial arts experience.
